Greaux the Good is helping Louisiana seniors and WIC participants make the most of their Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) dollars by offering additional benefits at 17 participating farmers markets and farm stands across the state.
Although enrollment in this year's FMNP has ended, current recipients can spend the annual $30 balance on their FMNP cards through November 30, 2026.
Program details vary by location. Recipients can choose from one of two options to help double their spending power:
Option 1: Recipients who have spent all 2026 issued FMNP funds issued to their card, can visit a Greaux the Good partner farmers market, ask market staff to check their FMNP card balance is zero, and receive a match of $30 in market currency to spend with vendors.
Option 2: Recipients who have a current balance can shop with one of Greaux the Good’s farm stand partners for a 50% discount on eligible items.
The 50% discount is automatically applied at checkout when shoppers use their FMNP card at participating farm stands. The $30 match is issued in market currency after a participant’s FMNP card balance is verified, as zero, at participating farmers markets. Both options allow shoppers to effectively double the dollars available to spend.
"Not only do we want to make sure every FMNP dollar available to Louisiana seniors and families is used, we also want to make sure those benefits are maximized before they expire," said Madeline Pears, Director of Greaux the Good. "These incentives help shoppers take home even more fresh, locally grown food while supporting the farmers in their communities."
Several Greaux the Good partnering farmers are even bringing fresh, local produce directly to senior housing communities and residences. These visits assist recipients facing transportation or mobility barriers so they can still utilize and maximize their FMNP benefits.
Greaux the Good is especially encouraging seniors in the Hammond area and surrounding communities to check the balance on their FMNP cards and visit a participating market or farm stand before benefits expire on November 30, 2026.
